For Visual Design Systems class, everyone was assigned to redesign the dollar. Students were allowed to choose any country of their choice or make up a nation of their own represented in their currency. The challenge behind this project was that we had to know the ground rules of what is the necessary information needed to make the dollar. However, we need to use our creativity and take inspiration from our interests to make a currency that has a design that does not exist in society.
Madonna was my inspiration for this project. Everyone knows her as the "Queen of Pop," but she is known as the "Queen of Humanity" for my currency project. If this dollar were to exist in today's society, I decided that this dollar is useful everywhere around the world, because many cultures and nations love Madonna. Madonna is rebellious by nature, but she is not afraid to stick up for her own beliefs, stand by people who are struggling in society, as well as, uses her art to make the world a safer and happier place.
To be a little more playful, I decided to make a chocolate bar and notebook accessory with the dollar because the class liked the idea of having Madonna on a dollar bill, so they thought edibles or other products should exist.
